The best year.

I was never sure how motherhood would go, but I knew in my heart of hearts that I would make a great mom. The road to Sawyer was a long one. I remember the heartache and fear I would never be a mommy. When she finally arrived my heart exploded. Being her mommy, and watching Derrick be her Daddy is the absolute joy of my life.

Life before Sawyer was perfect. Life with Sawyer is whole. She was the missing piece to our family.

I married an incredible man. He is my person. I never questioned the type of dad he would be, and she adores him. We have an incredible daughter. She is our heart. The best parts of both of us.

The past year has been full of excitement. Every new milestone is my favorite milestone.

Her first laugh caused by Derrick Her first word. Dog. Her army crawl because she doesn't want to let go of her things. Her love of music. Her love of dancing. Her ability to turn on the most dramatic cry and go back to smiling as if she had a switch. Her eyebrow raises. Her love of reading. Her favorite food. Peas.

Everything. It is all my favorite.

The years to come are exciting, and also incredibly terrifying. On the one hand, I can't wait to watch her grow. On the other, I want her to stay little forever.

One day she will grow up and move away from me. For now, I will soak up the years. Savor the memories. And enjoy every possible moment with our sweet girl.
